Calcium silicate hydrate colloid at different humidities: Microstructure, deformation mechanism, and mechanical properties

چکیده
Calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) is the main hydration product of Portland cement, while fundamental questions persist regarding its colloidal structure and water content. In this work, we developed a full atomistic C-S-H colloid model investigated physical mechanical properties at different gel concentrations. Water confined in nanometer pores degrades because hydrolysis effect. A “ductile to brittle” transition was observed with increasing contents, evolving from transgranular failure intergranular fracture. The nanometer-sized displays glassy characteristics, it acts as lubricant facilitates distortions during deformation. We elucidated topology effect hydrogen bond network on evolution viscoelasticity humidities. This work sheds light role colloids nanostructure perspectives.

Order and disorder in calcium-silicate-hydrate.
Despite advances in the characterization and modeling of cement hydrates, the atomic order in Calcium-Silicate-Hydrate (C-S-H), the binding phase of cement, remains an open question. Indeed, in contrast to the former crystalline model, recent molecular models suggest that the nanoscale structure of C-S-H is amorphous. To elucidate this issue, we analyzed the structure of a realistic simulated m...
متن کاملSolubility and Structure of Calcium Silicate Hydrate
A poorly crystalline class of calcium silicate hydrates known as CSH possesses extensive disorder and structural variations at the nanometer scale. The extent of these variations has generally obscured a comprehensive understanding of the CSH nanostructure, but new relationships between solubility and structure appear to shed new light on this old problem. These relationships were inspired ...
متن کاملMICROSTRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF THE ULTRAFINE-GRAINED COPPER TUBE PRODUCED BY SEVERE PLASTIC DEFORMATION
In this paper, cyclic flaring and sinking (CFS) as a new severe plastic deformation (SPD) method was employed to produce the ultrafine grain (UFG) copper tubes. The extra friction has eliminated in the CFS method that provided the possibility for production of longer UFG tubes compared to the other SPD methods. This process was done periodically to apply more strain and consequently finer grain...
متن کاملTHE EFFECT OF SEVERE PLASTIC DEFORMATION ON THE MICROSTRUCTURE AND MECHANICAL PROPERTIES OF AS-CAST AZ31
The evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties of a magnesium cast alloy (AZ31) processed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) at two different temperatures were investigated. The as-cast alloy with an average grain size of 360 was significantly refined to about 5 after four ECAP passes at 543 K. Grain refinement was achieved through dynamic recrystallization (DRX) du...
متن کاملEffects of graphene plates’ adoption on the microstructure, mechanical properties, and in vivo biocompatibility of calcium silicate coating
Calcium silicate (CS) ceramic is a good coating candidate for biomedical implants to improve biocompatibility and accelerate early osseointegration. However, the poor fracture toughness and wear resistance of this ceramic material restricts the long-term performance of implants. In this study, graphene plates (GPs) were used as reinforcement to improve the mechanical properties of CS coating. C...
